Visa Moves Deeper Into Crypto With Powerful New Role Securing Blockchain Payments
Visa has cemented its commitment to blockchain technology by launching its first validator node on the Tempo network, marking a strategic shift from research to active infrastructure development. The payment giant now directly participates in transaction validation, joining early adopters like Stripe and Zodia Custody in building a system optimized for real-time and machine-to-machine payments.
After six months of collaboration with Tempo's engineering team, Visa is running the validator using its proprietary infrastructure—a deliberate contrast to competitors outsourcing such operations. As an anchor validator, the company assumes critical responsibilities for transaction confirmation and network security, while earning stablecoin rewards for lead validation roles. This dual benefit structure aligns financial incentives with Tempo's long-term stability objectives.
